Maximizing your Return on Expertise – ROE – requires the skills to know how to increase your Return on Interaction – ROI. In this case think of Expertise as personal Equity, and Interaction as an Investment of time spent effectively communicating one’s expertise. This ROE requires a different ROI for current and future generations of entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs skilled in communicating with their thumbs and not their mouths.

The minute you open your mouth you are performing. The minute you open your mouth you are being judged on your expertise. The minute you open your mouth you set an audience’s perception of you. Therefore, to maximize your ROE – Return on Expertise– you need to learn how to use your voice. And learning how to correctly use your voice in today’s digital world will maximize your ROI – Return on Interaction and set you apart from the competition.

To be perceived as an expert and effectively communicate your ideas to potential investors, team members, potential customers whether it’s by phone, webinars, videoconferencing, teleconferencing, through audio recordings and videos, and if you’re lucky enough by face-to-face it’s time you learn how to expertly use your voice.

Few realize that their voice is their most valuable asset. It is capable of an audible range of three octaves – 36 different pitches? Yet, studies show that most people monotonously use a 3 or 4 pitches at best. How boring!

Preachers, radio sports announcers and actors know how to engage and captivate their audiences. They know how to use the full range and power of their voices to emotionally engage others. They maximize their ROE – Return on Expertise – because they know how to be successful at ROI – Return on Interaction.

Communication and presentation training programs that focus on vocal technique are the PhD programs on how to maximize your ROE through ROI. Training only in strategy and tactics will only get you to the goal line.

It’s never too late to start learning. Michelangelo said at the age of 87 “Ancora Imparo” – “I am still learning.”
